The 2024 Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series kicks-off this Saturday night at the Action Track of the East. With qualifying racing beginning at 6 p.m., both the Sport Trucks and Pro Stocks will go for extra-distance races in their first of three events inside the Everett’s Triple Crown.
Also on Saturday, the track celebrates all those who currently serve in the military, and all those who have been lost in service, with the annual Military Night at Seekonk Speedway. All Military personnel both past and present who attend the races on Saturday night will receive complimentary admission in the grandstands. Qualifying races begin at 6 p.m. and feature action will follow at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online today at SeekonkSpeedway.com. In the two highlight races of the night, the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will run 35 laps and the Pro Stocks will ned the night with 60 circuits. The Late Models are also back for race two of their season, set for 30 laps, while the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will be on track for 25 laps of their own. In the Sport Trucks, Rick Martin made an early statement on opening night, picking up the victory. As the reigning champion of the division for the last two years, Martin hasn’t lost a step over the winter - but has some stout competition coming behind him. Darryl Church and Mike Duarte showed impressive speed in race one, joining Martin on the podium. Look out for Jake Vanada, Amy Arsenault, DJ Thibeault, Mike Cavallaro and others in their Triple Crown opener. The Pro Stock field chased Colbey Fournier for much of the opening race of the season. Although he won the 40-lap race to kick-off the year, he was closely challenged by Bobby Pelland, Vinnie Arrenegado and others over the distance. Arrenegado, a two-time and defending Seekonk Late Model champion, was impressive in his Pro Stock debut, and what better way for him to break into Victory Lane than the first Triple Crown event? Names like Dick Benoit, Mark Jenison, Dylan Estrella and others are ready to do battle for 60 laps on Saturday night. Richie Murray dominated the second half of the opening race of the Late Model season, besting names like Chase Belcher, Arrenegado and Connor Souza to score the win in race one. He will be back to challenge others to try and make it two in a row - but additional names like Luke Lebrun, Charlie Rose and Mark Jenison will do everything they can to park their own car in Victory Lane after 30 laps. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman division had a wild lap one, and a finish that saw part-time competitor Josh Hedges pick up the win. Former Fast Friday driver Tyler Almeida posted his best career finish in the opener - a second - while Jeremy Lambert made his Sportsman debut worth it, finishing on the podium. Looking to rebound, defending champion Steve Axon and 2023 dominator Adam Petty will both be coming back from the lap one wreck lookin to pounce. NASCAR Saturday grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for advanced ticket holders and 5 p.m. for those who purchase tickets at the track on race day. The pit area opens at 2 p.m. for race teams and practice begins at 4 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets or pit passes online now at SeekonkSpeedway.com. SEEKONK, Mass. — For the 110th time in his Seekonk Speedway career, Radical Rick Martin was celebrating in Victory Lane on Saturday night. Martin opened the 2024 season for the Chaz’s Auto Body Sport Trucks by rocketing to the front early, then holding off all challengers on multiple late restarts to win the first race of the season. He held off Tyler Almeida on the final restart to score the win, but also had a tough battle with Scott Serydynski Jr. for the lead in the middle of the race. While Hedges won, Almeida opened the season with a strong second. Jeremy Lambert, a former Fast Friday Pure Stock champion, finished in third, while Doug Benoit and Colby Lambert rounded out the top-five. Colby had to charge through the field after an incident in the middle of the race. Nick Wood, Mackenzie Stevenson, Dane Saritelli, Perry and Mark Healy finished the top-10. Opening day is right around the corner!” Seekonk Speedway’s 2024 season will open with NASCAR Opening Day on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. for the Pro Stocks, Late Models, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman and Chaz’s Auto Body Sport Trucks. One day earlier, the Classic Car Show returns on Saturday, May 4, including Burnout Drags on track at 1 p.m. and NASCAR Test & Tune from 12-4 p.m. Tickets for all Seekonk Speedway events are available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com.
Jenison won the title in 2022, his first career in the Pro Stocks, while also winning the Late Model title. He followed it up by winning a second Pro Stock crown last year and enters 2024 looking for three in a row. Jenison will look to become just the fourth driver in the history of the Pro Stocks to win a third straight title – Norm Holden, Fred Astle Jr. and David Darling are the only on that list. Bobby Pelland III rebounded from an opening day disqualification to win the NASCAR State Championship for Massachusetts last year and had a consistent second half of the season. Pelland won the Everett’s Triple Crown title and had multiple feature wins. The former Late Model champion looks to pounce in 2024 with more wins and another shot at the title. Dylan Estrella and Colbey Fournier are two more top contenders. Estrella, a former Late Model champion, is no stranger to Pro Stock Victory Lane and returns driving the No. 46 for Everett’s Auto Parts as a new dad. Fournier, who missed the summer last year after an accident, rebounded to contend down the stretch and visit Victory Lane. Expect both of these two drivers to be frequent names at the front of the field in 2024. Defending two-time Late Model champion Vinnie Arrenegado Jr. is also making the big move in 2024. Arrenegado will campaign at least a partial schedule in the Late Models and will compete full-time in the Pro Stocks. Vinnie has shown over the years that he is one of the top contenders in the Late Models - winning countless races and two titles. How will his move to the Pro Stocks treat him? Other names to watch: Mike Brightman and Kenny Spencer. After what he would call a few years of struggling, the last two have been impressive for Brightman with feature wins and consistency. He’s made the Championship 4 two years in a row, but hasn’t sealed the deal. Is 2024 his year? Spencer has been up and down the last few years with multiple racing incidents, but we know this former champion is a threat every time he hits the track.
Mike Rotondo won the Rookie of the Year honors last year driving the famed No. 48 for Rollie Lindblad and will be back for the 2024 season. Can he make the playoffs again and chase his first career win during the season? One would be wrong to count out Dick Benoit. As a consistent driver from last season, he made noise in the playoffs and came close to contending for the title. His biggest goal going into 2024? Grab the elusive feature win. Seven-time Pro Stock champion Dave Darling is also planning to run select events. Don’t forget about former Late Model champion Tommy Adams, either. Rick Martin, a man who needs no introduction, is planning to run at least a partial schedule in the Pro Stocks, while chasing another Truck title. Other names to watch in the Pro Stocks include Daryl Stampfl, Jerammee Lillie, Ken Lavallee, Danny Thibault and Kevin Casper. Look out for Tibeault, who showed speed last year, to make even more gains in 2024. Other registered drivers planning to make at least select events include Chris Gomes, Danny Cabral and Billy Joerres. The 2024 season opens for Seekonk’s Pro Stocks on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Pro Stocks will be Saturday, September 28. For more information on the 2024 Pro Stock season, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news. |
